I always feel so grateful when I have an event which now isn't more than about five times a year.
It's often because I do many workshops and private events for budding writers.
My events include how to write your own book.Kids and adults as well.
Yesterday was no different. Many people stopped by and asked me how they could get started.Writing their own book and kids came by and did some coloring and also grabbed a little book and started to write on their own.
Some kids came by and said, you know, I really hate reading. And I don't know why. I was able to open up to them because I had some time and tell them that when I was younger, I wasn't always great at reading.
It wasn't until I started reading aloud. And then in college became a reader for the blind and worked for the committee of disabled students.
I later got a job working for a man who was losing his sight. He was a former engineer and many of the things I had to read to him.I didn't understand but it really taught me how to be more expressive.
How lucky I have been to be able to reach all these people? And to help kids, even when they feel they can't. My first book can't enable continues to be the most popular one and continues to sell out.
